What do we do when an apartment is compact and space is scarce? We design clever multifunctional spaces to maximize the potential for optimum living. So is the case for this condominium home at Park Place Residences at PLQ which is adorned by primary colors of blue and red throughout the home. We explore this project with a home tour; read on to see the full features of this compact home for one at Park Place Residences at PLQ.
The Multifunctional Living Room that Converts into a Dining Area
The interesting feature of this home is utilizing space-saving furniture to deal with compact household constraints. For example, a lot of the furniture in the living room is made multifunctional where the plush coffee table and custom side table can be converted into a bench and stools respectively when the fold-up dining table is lowered to use during meal times. The living room is mostly blue with cabinetry painted in royal blue on the surface exterior with bright red backing and LED light strip linings and blue walls on the side where the couch and pop-art art pieces are aligned.
The Streamlined Kitchen
While the living room is predominantly in royal blue, the kitchen’s exterior is contrasted with bright red and built along the edges of the wall due to space constraints in the area itself. The end result is creating an airy space leading from the main entrance straight to the living room.
As the homeowner is also quite short, the kitchen counters are lowered from their original fittings that came with the condo apartment and a dish dryer that is installed at the top cabinet comes with a mechanism to lower the dryer to eye level for easy loading of dishes.
The Effortless Master Bedroom
The same color theme dominates the master bedroom with shades of royal blue and bright red. Hints of postmodern design hint through this area with clean modern lines with pops of color and artful decor and furnishings. At the headboard wall which is painted fully in royal blue, curved lines from the wood panels on either side of the bed mimic a cushion look, add to the softness and retro vibes of the bedroom style. Similarly, the black-framed industrial bedside lighting, contemporary pop artwork, and bright red contrasting plush headboard with rounded corners also add to the retro and soft style of this master bedroom. To deal with space constraints, behind the wall headboard is the fire exit cleverly designed to be accessible through a hidden doorway without skimping on style. Lastly, seamless wardrobe carpentry is designed into the bedroom wall adjacent to the entrance of the master bath.
The Study with Ample Storage Space
Lastly, every compact home needs a sufficient amount of storage space and this is done in the study room adjacent to the master bedroom with cream cabinetry repetitive of the design of the wardrobe in the master bedroom and royal blue surface for table and display cabinets paired with bright red backing and illuminated with LED lights on the shelvings. Then finally, the postmodern style is also brought out in this study room with quirky and artful vase pairings and a rounded carpet that matches the blue and red color theme as well resulting in a tasteful and energizing abode to occupy and work from home with.
What do you think about this home for one? Do you think it's an ideal space for compact living? Do you like how the multifunctional furniture is utilized or do you have other solutions that you prefer? And most of all, are you a fan of the combination of energizing primary colors for your home?
